If you’re looking for a newer resource pack to go with the latest version of Minecraft and you don’t mind a package that isn’t quite finished yet, take a look at the Gearan resource pack. The majority of textures have been finished already, making Gearan about 85% complete, so you will notice lots of changes after installing this pack, even if it hasn’t replaced every single texture in the game. With a low resolution of 16x, practically anyone who can play Minecraft can play it with this pack enabled, and that’s great news since the visuals are a clear cut above traditional Minecraft graphics.

Everything is still blocky to be sure, don’t worry about that. However, Gearan does a good job of utilizing some standard textures and combining them with updated ones to create a set of visuals which are unique enough, but still bring to mind the standard Minecraft experience. There is a hint of realism added to the mixture as well, which you will notice especially in the flowers, grasses and other plants and flora found throughout the game. For now, there are a handful of missing textures, but if that doesn’t bother you too much, you’ve got a great resource pack here.

Changes can be seen in every biome of Minecraft, from deserts to oceans to jungles and elsewhere. Some textures, like fire, honestly look a little worse than they do in standard Minecraft. The great majority of textures in Gearan look better than they normally do, including trees and various structures, blocks and items made from the wood in those trees. If you’re the type of player who gets bored with seeing the same old textures every time you play Minecraft, Gearan is going to make you very happy. Again though, the pack is unfinished, so it won’t appeal to everyone.
