Minecraft players who have tried other John Smith packs before already know what to expect from John Smith Legacy Resource Pack. If the Middle Ages and medieval construction are interesting to you, then you’re probably going to love this resource pack. This is great for making your own custom maps with an RPG theme and feel, or for just building castles, fortresses, bridges and other big, imposing, stone structures. To that end, most of the stone textures in John Smith Legacy look amazing, even down to the lowly cobblestone block. However, it is not just stone blocks and structures which benefit from this facelift.
Even the grass on the ground and the leaves in the trees look better in John Smith Legacy. Textures don’t look so flat or muddy like they do in standard Minecraft, and you will have a very hard time finding any texture that looks smudged or appears to just bleed over into the next adjacent block. The various flora has also all been updated, so if you like to collect flowers, plant gardens or even just live in flower plains biomes, you’re going to be a happy camper with this resource pack installed. Lighting effects are also improved – it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely better than standard lighting.
If all of these improvements appeal to you, then you should probably give the John Smith Legacy resource pack a try for yourself. It changes everything, even utility blocks like pistons and sticky pistons, to make almost every texture in Minecraft look old and weathered, as if it has been battered by wind, rain, sun and snow for years. The UI is clear and not muddled, so you don’t have to worry about misreading how many of a particular item you are carrying – stack numbers come through bold and bright, making them easy to read.
