If you don’t mind using resource packs which are technically still a work in progress, then keep reading. The Serene HD resource pack features a 64x resolution which is right in the middle of the different resolutions available for Minecraft resource packs. That means most players will be able to use this pack without experiencing issues, but other players can expect to see slower world loading times and even some glitches while textures take longer to render. When you add this to the fact the pack is still unfinished, it makes sense that some players wouldn’t want to try Serene HD yet.
The textures which have been finished so far look great though. You can see this just by looking up when you start a new Minecraft world – the sun is a big, rounded disc in the sky, rather than the blocky, octagonal thing you would normally see. The same goes for the moon which also looks much better in Serene HD resource pack. Unfortunately, clouds are still the blocky, square things they normally appear to be, but that’s just one of the many textures which will be redone in future updates. The best new texture in Serene HD is probably the water, which ripples as if it was real.
Many textures still need to be updated in this resource pack, including various wooden blocks, the leaves on the trees, grassy dirt and sand, just to name a few. This pack isn’t complete by any means. As for who would like this pack the most, that’s hard to say. Anyone seeking a more realistic environment in Minecraft will probably like Serene HD, because it doesn’t feature bright pastel colors and flat textures like you would find in cartoony resource packs. With that said, if you prefer cartoony resource packs, this is definitely not for you.
