The Smooth Realistic resource pack features improve textures from the ground up to the sky. Even the clouds and bodies like the sun and moon get upgrades from this resource pack, which comes in a medium 64x resolution. Some of the best-looking textures are back on the ground though, especially in flower field biomes with lots of different flora gathered in the same place. Every flower in Minecraft has been redrawn and recolored in this resource pack, and every single one of those flowers looks better than it does in the vanilla game. This isn’t a matter of opinion – just check them for yourself.

The textures below the ground look good too. Diorite, andesite and granite often go ignored in resource packs, but even these rocks and their polished versions get new graphics in the Smooth Realistic resource pack. One complaint is that the different valuables and ores like coal, iron and gold all have the same icon, only in a different color. Simple palette swaps are fine when you’re in an environment where you can see the texture, but you should expect to be mistaken about what you’re mining if you go breaking ore blocks in the dark. That’s just a little annoying.

Other textures aren’t just palette swaps though, even though you would normally expect them to be. Wood blocks and planks look different in all five types, even if the differences are sometimes small and require you to look closely to find them. Liquids look great, especially the lava, but armor is again back to being simple palette swaps. This is probably to be expected from something called the Smooth Realistic resource pack, but some more unique textures wouldn’t have hurt this package.
